Introduction
Our lab, co-directed by Prof. Hakwan Lau and supported by MR physicist Seong-Gi Kim, is located at the IBS Center for Neuroscience Imaging Research at Sungkyunkwan University, Korea. We are moving to Korea in September 2024 and are excited to build several new research groups in neuroimaging and related fields. With access to some of the world’s most advanced neuroimaging facilities (7T MRI for humans, 15.2T MRI for rodents, and more), we are looking for dedicated individuals to join us at all levels.
We are actively recruiting for the following positions:
Positions Available
Postdoctoral Researchers
We are hiring postdoctoral researchers for various areas of neuroscience research. Funding is available for up to 10 years with potential internal promotions to faculty positions through open competition. Areas of focus include:
- Human cognitive neuroscience (focus on perception, memory, and fMRI analysis related to mental imagery and mental health)
- Computational neuroimaging (real-time/closed-loop multivoxel pattern analysis, network control theory, traveling waves, etc.)
- Rodent electrophysiology and calcium imaging (perceptual decision-making, neurofeedback, fMRI)
PhD Students
We are recruiting PhD students interested in human cognitive neuroscience, high-level perception, memory, and large group fMRI data analysis. At PIL, you will have the opportunity to work with multiple PIs and gain a wide variety of experience.
Staff Scientists / Junior Principal Investigators
We are hiring staff scientists or junior PIs who can establish and lead research groups of 2-3 full-time researchers, as well as PhD students. Internal funding is provided, so there is no pressure for grant writing or teaching duties. These positions come with potential to transition to tenure-track roles at SKKU, with a focus on rodent electrophysiology and calcium imaging.
Research Assistants
We are looking for research assistants to help with ongoing projects, including neurofeedback, data analysis, and behavioral experiments. Enthusiasm for neuroscience research and collaboration is key!
Technical Staff
We are seeking technical staff with expertise in brain stimulation (TMS, fMRI). Experience in computer hardware and programming (e.g., Python) is a plus, but minimal experience is required as training will be provided.
Administrative Staff
We are recruiting administrative staff fluent in both English and Korean. No technical background is required, but interests in psychology and brain science would be ideal. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail are essential.
How to Apply
If you are interested in joining Perceptual Intelligence Laboratories (PIL), please send your CV and a brief message outlining your interest to hakwan@gmail.com. Include the subject line “Joining Perceptual Intelligence Laboratories” and specify the position(s) you are applying for.
Positions are available from September 2024, and the review and hiring processes will continue until early 2025.
